Trail Information
Note: The posted times to complete each trail are estimates and will vary depending on trail conditions and the ability of hikers.
Murphy Lake Trail
288m from Fire Hall parking lot to the Drumlin Field Trail (10 minutes one way)
Difficulty: Easy. This scenic trail is a short walk that connects the Drumlin Field Trail with the barrier-free boardwalk behind the Mount Uniacke Fire Department.
Lake Martha Loop
0.9 km from Trailhead (30 minutes)
Difficulty: Easy. A walking trail for families and strollers. It features a hardpacked gravel path, woodland, lakeshore, a brook and the original Post Road.
Drumlin Field Trail
2.1 km from Trailhead (45 minutes)
Difficulty: Moderate. This trail veers off the Lake Martha Loop through woodland along the lakeshore and offers a panoramic view of the house at the top of the drumlin.
Hothouse Hill Loop
0.9 km from Trailhead (30 minutes)
Difficulty: Moderate. You will see Richard John Uniacke’s hothouse foundation, stone walls, abandoned fields, woodland and a mature American Chestnut tree.
Red Spruce Loop
1.5 km from Trailhead (60 minutes)
Difficulty: Hard. You will encounter magnificent hemlock, brooks and a mossy bog. Return along the edge of Lake Martha (also known as Uniacke Lake).
Post Road Trail
2.5 km from Trailhead (75 minutes return)
Difficulty: Moderate. This is the original road between Halifax and Windsor. It became the Post Road when a stagecoach started to carry mail in the early 1800s. This trail takes you through a variety of forest types from young conifers to mature deciduous.
Wetlands Trail
2.5 km from Trailhead, accessed via other trails (3 hours)
Difficulty: Hard. This walk passes through a small ravine into grassy marshland and can be wet and boggy in areas. It can be accessed along the Barrens Trail or by the Post Road Trail.
Barrens Trail
1.5 km from Trailhead (40 minutes return)
Difficulty: Moderate. Connecting the Red Spruce Loop and Wetlands Trail, the Barrens Trail can be wet and boggy and features streams and brooks, open forest, glacial erratics and lush marsh.

- Use the trail map to select a trail based on your ability
- Plan the timing of your walk based on the posted time estimates

- Dogs must be on leash
- Clean up after your pets
- No motorized vehicles
- Leave no trace behind. Take only pictures, leave only footprints
- Trails and grounds close at dusk

Trails remain in an ungroomed state throughout the winter
